Introducing Riyadh!
As I move through my Holiday Barbie dress inspos (see comments for styles), I’ll name them after an event from their signature year, in this case 2018. In April 2018, Saudi Arabia hosted its first-ever fashion week in Riyadh. Despite all-female audiences, a social media ban was in place so photos of women without their abayas, or floor-length overgarments, wouldn’t leak. Organizers hailed the event as a pivotal moment for women in the country.
Riyadh is a ball gown with wide, sweeping hemline and tulle overskirt featuring graduated widths of ruffles adorning the lower half of the skirt. The bodice, with its off shoulder sleeves, showcases rows and rows of soft pleated ruffles, an elasticized corset back for ultimate fit, and optional spaghetti straps - snap them onto the back bodice or tuck them away if not using.
To achieve the bell skirt silhouette, I recommend a separate ruffled hoop skirt (not included; message for my recommend style of hoop skirt). The gown’s skirt has been lengthened to accommodate a hoop while maintaining its overall floor length
